Hamas briefs Palestinian faction leaders on Great March of Return

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh phoned on Wednesday Secretary General of the Popular Struggle Front Khalid abdul-Majid and discussed the peaceful Great March of Return.

The two leaders discussed the results and repercussions of the Great March of Return and reached a consensus on the future steps needed to be taken after a thorough assessment of the event.

In addition, they stressed on the importance that all Palestinians, particularly in diaspora, to take part in the marches and build on and develop various mechanisms to follow up with the marches after the positive results that emerged from its initial beginning last Friday.     

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation to the people of Gaza and the organisers of the March, saying that this initiative has highlighted and conveyed the Palestinian struggle once again.

He pointed out that several meetings were held during the last few days in Beirut where Palestinian factions along with national figures agreed to be fully involved in the events and marches till May 15 as well as the World Campaign for Solidarity with the Palestinian people, which consists of 70 countries voicing their support for the Palestinian people.  

For his part, Haniyeh stressed the position of Hamas in strengthening its relationship with the coalition forces in Syria to develop a framework and exert all efforts in developing the Great March of Return.

On Tuesday, Haniyeh phoned the deputy head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Abu Ahmed Foaad and briefed him on the Great March of Return and the importance of carrying out joint efforts to build on the March and its goals.
