Hamas official Hassan Yousef condemned detaining the Palestinian MP Ibrahim Abu Salem during a night raid on Qatna and Beir Nibala villages near Jerusalem.
Youssef labelled the detention of political opponents by PA forces “unacceptable policy” that is rejected by the Palestinian people.
He added that the PA security forces have crossed all “red lines” by arresting Abu Salem, noting that this move threatens the Palestinian home front, which is facing serious challenges nowadays.
Yousef noted that the PA security forces ransacked Abu Salem’s house before detaining him in a night raid on Friday.
The Hamas official called for releasing Abu Salem immediately, as well as all political detainees held in PA’s jails,
He added that such arrests would undermine the reconciliation efforts amid challenges posed to the Palestinian cause.
