Hamas Chief invites PA President to visit Gaza for talks

13 February, 19

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh said on Tuesday that he was willing to  meet the Palestinian Authority's President Mahmoud Abbas for talks on general elections and national unity.

“I am ready to meet with Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] in Cairo today or he can visit Gaza, which is part of his home,” Haniyeh said in an interview hosted by an Egyptian newspaper.

Haniyeh called for an “urgent and immediate” national dialogue that is inclusive for all the Palestinian factions to be held in Cairo.

The top Hamas official welcomed the formation of a national unity government and holding general elections, including presidential, legislative and national council elections, as a preliminary step to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation.
