Commenting on the Israeli Occupation’s detention of Sheikh Abdul Azim Salhab, the Head of the Muslim Waqf (Endowment) Council in Jerusalem, and Sheikh Najeh Bkerat, Deputy Director of Muslim Endowments, member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran stated the following:
The Israeli intelligence detained Salhab and Bkerat in dawn raids on their homes, the incident that will backfire with more Palestinian determination to fight off the Israeli schemes and aggressions.
We realise that the Israeli Occupation will not easily concede the defeat after the Jerusalemites have managed to reopen Bab al-Raham at al-Aqsa Mosque.
Indeed, the detention of Palestinian religious figures in the wake of the arrests of Jerusalemite worshippers is a dangerous act and the Israeli Occupation must bear all its consequences.
The Palestinian people’s protests at al-Aqsa Mosque have taught the Israeli Occupation a lesson that the Palestinian people do not conceal their rights.
When the Israeli Occupatio imposed new measures at al-Aqsa Mosque, it made an enormous miscalculation and thus it must be held accountable for it aggressive acts in the holy city.
Finally, the people of Jerusalem will never surrender to the Israeli Occupation and its arbitrary policies.
