Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa called on Fatah to adopt the unified factional position on national unity.
“Fatah is invited to adopt the unified national stance towards national unity by entrenching partnership with the Palestinian factions in a national unity government and taking part in the joint national action to fight off the deal of the century,” al-Qanoa said in a press release.
The Hamas spokesperson stressed that national unity is the “safety valve to foil any project aimed at liquidating our Palestinian cause.”
Al-Qanoa hailed the Palestinian people for taking part on the 56th Friday of the weekly Great Return March protests, dubbed “Friday of national unity”, noting that their participation in the popular, peaceful demonstrations highlighted their aspiration for an end to the internal division in order to face off the current challenges surrounding their cause.
Since March 31, 2018, the Palestinians have been peacefully marching near Gaza’s eastern border fence to demand their right to return to their homeland and an end to the 13-year Israeli siege on Gaza.
The Israeli occupation forces killed more than 270 Palestinians and wounded tens of thousands while violently cracking down on the peaceful, popular demonstrations east of Gaza.
