OCHA: Israeli occupation demolished, seized 43 Palestinian buildings in two weeks

01 July, 19

Israeli occupation demolished and confiscated 43 Palestinian-owned buildings under the pretext of being built without permits, leaving 54 Palestinians homeless, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said.

In its report covering the period between 4 and 17 June, OCHA explained that 32 of the affected buildings were recorded in 11 Area C communities, including Khirbet al-Ras al-Ahmar in the West Bank city of Tubas, where 11 structures were demolished on June 12 under the pretext of being located in an Israeli-designated closed military zone.

Israeli occupation forces destroyed four housing units in Halaweh and Khallet Athab’a communities, located in another Israeli-designated closed military zone south of the West Bank, and demolished two water cisterns in Tammun village in Tubas, leaving the village’s estimated 13,600 residents suffering from water shortages.

The report noted that Israeli occupation forces uprooted 390 Palestinian-owned trees in the same village in the West Bank city of Tubas.

The UN body demonstrated that the remaining 11 structures were demolished by Israeli occupation authorities in occupied Jerusalem, six of them in Kafr Aqab and Bir Onah communities.

Israeli settlers carried out 12 attacks against Palestinians and their properties, resulting in damage to hundreds of Palestinian-owned trees across the occupied West Bank, the report revealed.

On June 5, the report continued, Israeli settlers, thought to be from the illegal outpost “Adei Ad”, torched about 300 dunums of land owned by Palestinian farmers from Jalud village in the West Bank city of Nablus, damaging 900 olive trees.

On the same day, Israeli settlers set a further 233 olive trees and saplings and dozens of dunums of wheat crops on fire, according to local residents.

In three separate attacks, Israeli settlers burned about four dunums of land planted with wheat and barley crops in Ein Samiya village in the West Bank city of Ramallah and bulldozed around 15 dunums belonging Palestinian framers from Yanun and Madama villages in Nablus.

Since the start of 2019, Israeli settlers damaged nearly 4,000 trees owned by Palestinian farmers, according to the report.

Israeli settlers vandalised six Palestinian-owned vehicles and painted anti-Palestinian, racist graffiti on the walls of a mosque, and demolish a greenhouse in separate raids on the West Bank towns and villages.

During the reporting period, Israeli occupation forces shot and wounded 238 Palestinian civilians while attacking the Great Return March protests east of Gaza.

Israeli occupation forces wounded ten Palestinian civilians in raids and arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank.

Israeli occupation forces carried out 119 raids and arrest campaigns throughout the occupied West Bank, 29 of which in Hebron and 24 others in occupied Jerusalem, the report noted.

Israeli occupation forces injured three Palestinian civilians, while violently cracking down on the weekly anti-occupation protest in the West Bank village of Kafr Qaddum on Friday, 14 June.
