The Israeli settlers’ plans to break into al-Aqsa on the day of Eid al-Adha protected by Israeli police is an abhorrent violation against the Islamic holy places, member of Hamas International Relations Office Dr. Basem Naim said.

The Hamas official clarified that the Israeli plans may lead to an escalation in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories.

He also called on the international community to intervene in order to stop this ‘madness’ before the situation gets out control.

Naim added that the Israeli occupation cannot impose new realities through bullying, noting that the Second Intifada erupted after Ariel Sharon desecrated Al-Aqsa Mosque in September 2000.
