Israeli occupation forces killed 16 Palestinian children over the first half of 2019 in the besieged Gaza Strip, a report issued by a human rights group revealed.
The report explained that Israeli occupation forces shot and wounded 1,233 children, most of whom were shot while participating in the peaceful, popular Great Return March protests east of Gaza.
Over the past six months, Israeli occupation forces detained 17 Palestinian children, the majority of whom were released afterwards.
The report documented 17 attacks on Palestinian schools and health facilities across the blockaded Gaza Strip by Israeli occupation forces.
The Gaza-based human rights group noted that the Israeli occupation continued perpetuating systematic violations against Palestinians, especially children, in violation of international child rights treaties.
The report concluded that targeting and killing Palestinian children escalated during the first half of this year compared with the same period last year.
