The OCHA’s report about using gas canisters to kill and wound peaceful Palestinian protesters at the Great Return March is a further proof of Israeli terrorism and brutality against the Palestinian people, Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa said Tuesday.

Citing the human rights report, al-Qanoa explained that this policy violates all international norms and conventions.

Al-Qanoa called for prosecuting the Israeli leaders for their crimes against the Palestinian people.

“Firing teargas canisters directly at protestors is not a stand-alone practice, but part of the open-fire policy Israel has been pursuing along the Gaza borders for more than a year,” the human rights group said in a report Tuesday.

The report noted that at least seven Palestinian civilians, including four children, were killed after being shot directly in the head or face with tear gas canisters by Israeli occupation forces during the Great Return March protests east of Gaza.

Up to 1,600 Palestinian civilians were injured after being deliberately hit by tear gas canister fired by Israeli occupation forces during the Great Return March demonstrations, the report continued citing OCHA figures.

The human rights group condemned the Israeli policy of using gas bombs to kill and maim peaceful Palestinian protesters as “immoral and unlawful.”

Since 30 March 2018, Israeli occupation forces have shot dead more than 250 Palestinian civilians and wounded tens of thousands others while suppressing the Great Return March protests east of Gaza.
