Hamas warns against Israeli targeting of al-Aqsa

17 August, 19

Member of Hamas Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya warned Friday against targeting Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque.

While participating in the Great Return March protests east of Gaza, al-Hayya stressed that the Palestinian people’s fight against the occupation came as a natural response to all attempts aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause, above all the Trump’s “deal of the century”.

Al-Hayya hailed the Palestinian people for their role in defending their cause and making sacrifices for the sake of their freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation.

Through their participation in the 70th Friday of the Great Return March protests, al-Hayya explained, the Palestinian people have sent a message that all attempts by Israeli occupation forces and settlers to desecrate al-Aqsa Mosque on Fridays and divide the holy site timely and spatially are bound to fail.

Al-Hayya saluted the Palestinian residents of Jerusalem for defending al-Aqsa Mosque over the past week at all costs.

The senior Hamas official noted that the Palestinian people were gearing up for next Friday’s Great Return March demonstrations, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the arson attack on al-Aqsa Mosque by an extremist Israeli settler.
