Chief of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh announced on Thursday that his movement had accepted the initiative proposed by Palestinian factions to end internal Palestinian division.
During a meeting attended by representatives of the Palestinian factions held in his house in Gaza, Haniyeh said: “This meeting is being held to announce our reply to the initiative proposed by the leaders of the Palestinian factions which included a national vision to achieve unity and end the division.”
He added: “I welcome all of the leaders of the national Palestinian factions who developed this initiative that aims to achieve intra-Palestinian unity.”
He continued: “I announce that Hamas accepts this national initiative completely, without any modification, notes, or conditions.
“I hope that the leaders of the Palestinian faction succeed in completing their mission with our brothers –Fatah leadership.”
It is worth noting that Hamas, during the same meeting, told the Palestinian factions that it agrees on holding presidential and parliamentarian elections, in addition to the formation of a national unity government.
Haniyeh concluded: “I am honoured to submit the official reply of Hamas Movement to the leaders of the national Palestinian factions.”
