Student bloc at Birzeit University holds sit-in to protest political arrests

27 October, 19

A number of Hamas’ Islamic Bloc student activists are holding an open-ended sit-in in Birzeit University for the fourth day in a row in protest at political arrests carried out by Palestinian Authority security forces against the university’s students.

The Islamic Bloc called on students to participate in the open-ended protest to express their rejection of the ongoing political arrests, citing the arrest of Birzeit student Mohammed Nasser over his student activism.

The Hamas-affiliated bloc pointed out that Nasser has been held by the PA General Intelligence Service for the sixth day in a row.

The student bloc noted that the Birzeit University administration refused to provide a room for the students participating in the sit-in to stay amid cold weather.
