Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh arrived Tuesday in Malaysia accompanied by senior Hamas officials.
During the visit, the Hamas delegation met with Malaysia’s PM Mahathir Muhammed to discuss some issues concerning the Palestinian cause.
Haniyeh hailed the supportive positions of Malaysia expressed at the UN General Assembly or other international platforms.
“The Malaysian stances are highly appreciated and reflect a profound understanding of the Palestinian issue,” the Hamas chief said.
Both sides discussed threats and challenges facing Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, amid an accelerating settlement projects in the West Bank. They also highlighted many issues including the right to return, Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, and Israel siege imposed on Gaza.
Haniyeh and Muhammad also confirmed that Malaysia and Palestinian maintain rock-solid relations.
The Hamas delegation concluded by praising Malaysia’s efforts to support the steadfastness of Palestinian people.
