Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas Political Bureau, has continued his political efforts and made diplomatic contacts with regional leaders and officials to address the consequences of the “deal of the century.”
In a phone call on Monday evening, the Hamas chief discussed with Trump’s plan and its impacts on the Palestinian cause on different scales with Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Hassan Diab.
Haniyeh reiterated that a unified Palestinian position against Trump’s “deal of the century” is an “important starting point” to face off the US-drafted plan, briefing the Lebanese official on Hamas’ efforts in this regard.
The top Hamas official praised the Lebanese president, government, and parliament against Trump’s deal, hailing the popular solidarity voiced by the Lebanese people with the Palestinian people at this critical phase.
Reaffirming his rejection to all plans aimed at resettling Palestinian refugees in other countries, Haniyeh reaffirmed his movement’s commitment to restoring the right of return and compensation for all Palestinian refugees.
Haniyeh sent his congratulations to Aoun and Diab on the formation of a new government, wishing the country security and stability.
