Israeli occupation intensified violations in West Bank, Jerusalem in January, report finds

06 February, 20

Israeli occupation forces have escalated their violations and assaults against the Palestinian people and their holy sites in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem in January, a report released Tuesday revealed.

Issued by Hamas’ Media Division in occupied West Bank, the report said that Israeli occupation troops had suppressed peaceful, popular protests held to protest against the Trump’s “deal of the century” and Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people.

Over the past month, Israeli occupation forces have attacked 90 demonstrations across the occupied West Bank, the report explained, adding that 176 attacks were perpetrated by Israeli occupation troops and settlers against Palestinian civilians last month.

In Jerusalem, however, Israeli occupation forces have tightened their restrictions on Palestinians accessing the al-Aqsa Mosque and attacked Muslim worshippers at the sacred compound.

Over 17 days of the last month, on the other hand, 1,656 Israeli settlers have broken into the al-Aqsa Mosque complex, escorted by Israeli occupation forces.

In January 2020, the Israeli occupation has issued 47 orders barring Palestinian worshippers from entering the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, compared to 24 orders in December 2019.

Jerusalem, Hebron, and Ramallah were the most affected by Israeli violations over the last month, with 482, 319, and 221 violations committed in each city respectively.
