On the proposal made by Abdul-Malik Badreddin Al-Houthi to free Saudi captives in exchange for Hamas members detained in Saudi Arabia, Hamas movement states the following:
The movement followed up the initiative announced by Al-Houthi to free Palestinians detained in Saudi Arabia.
We appreciate the spirit of fraternity and compassion with the Palestinian people. Hamas thanks Al-Houthi for supporting the resilience and resistance of the Palestinian people. We, indeed, express our thanks for such an initiative.
On this occasion, we renew our calls for our brothers in Saudi Arabia to release the Palestinian detainees held in the kingdom’s jails immediately, above all Dr Mohammed Al-Khodari. The movement spared no effort to contact the Saudi leadership over the last year to this end. And the last call was made by Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh to appeal King Salman bin Abdulaziz to release the Palestine detainees who never caused any harm to the kingdom and respected the hospitality in a brotherly country. The Palestinian detainees have made no sin nor crime.
We confirm that the Palestinian cause will remain the issue that unites the Arab and Islamic Ummah. Hamas calls on all segments of our Ummah to unify their efforts in support of the Palestinian people.
