Chief of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has discussed the latest coronavirus developments with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
In a phone call on Tuesday evening, Haniyeh highlighted the harsh conditions experienced by the Palestinians at home and abroad, pointing to the deteriorating economic and humanitarian situation resulted from battling COVID-19 pandemic.
Outlining the efforts exerted to tackle the coronavirus outbreak amid a shortage of medical supplies and the difficult living conditions of Gaza’s residents, Haniyeh called for providing relief aid and medical supplies needed to fight the novel virus.
As for the Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, the Hamas chief urged for pressuring the Israeli occupation to provide the prisoners with cleaning and medical supplies and bear the responsibility for their lives.
“Hamas is determined to release all Palestinian detainees in a swap deal in case the Israeli leaders responded to the efforts exerted in this regard,” stressed Haniyeh.
This call came as part of ongoing efforts by the top Hamas official to contact world leaders to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
