Hamas chief phones Lebanese, Moroccan figures

16 April, 20

Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh has phoned Maan Bashur, head of the Arab International Forum for Justice for Palestine, and Khaled al-Sufyani, the general coordinator of the National Islamic Conference.

In two separate calls, Haniyeh discussed the latest developments concerning the Palestine cause and the serious dangers caused by the Israeli occupation and its judaisation and colonial plans in Jerusalem and across all occupied Palestinian territories, especially after the rollout of Trump’s deal.

The two Arab figures were briefed on the hardships facing the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip, as well as across all occupied Palestine territories and refugee camps in the diaspora amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Haniyeh addressed the harsh detention conditions in which Palestinian detainees are held in Israeli jails and the issue of Palestinians detained in Saudi Arabia, stressing that his movement would never abandon any Palestinian held either by the Israeli occupation or some Arab states and calling on official and popular Arab groups to assume their role towards the Palestinian prisoners who are sacrificing their lives for the sake of Jerusalem and Palestine.

Hamas is keen to end the intra-Palestinian division, restore Palestinian unity, and restructure and reactivate the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), while sticking to Palestinian rights and constants, Haniyeh reiterated.

The Hamas chief reaffirmed the necessity to unify all efforts by Arab and Muslim nations and parities and activate the role of popular organisations to face off the “deal of the century” and support the Palestinian people and their just cause.

Thanking Haniyeh for his phone call, both Arab activists hailed Hamas for its role in resisting the occupation and for the endeavours to unite the Arab and Palestinian publics in the face of Trump’s plan and preserve the Palestinian cause.
