The success or failure of Hamas chief in Gaza Yahya al-Sinwar’s offer for a prisoner exchange deal depends on how serious the Israeli occupation, Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa has said.

In a statement on the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, al-Qanoa stressed that al-Sinwar’s proposal is still in place, highlighting the humanitarian aspect of such offer.

Al-Qanoa explained that the Israeli occupation has not taken any “actual or serious” steps towards his movement’s move, adding: “The ball is still in its court.”

The issue of Palestinian detainees is a top priority for the Hamas leadership at this critical stage, reiterated al-Qanoa.

Restating his movement’s commitment to releasing all Palestinian detainees from Israeli jails, al-Qanoa confirmed that Hamas would use all means possible and dedicate all of its efforts to free all Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
