Hamas chief phones Arab League secretary general

25 April, 20

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh phoned on Thursday evening Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, offering him his wishes on the advent of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Haniyeh discussed the current political situation following the coronavirus pandemic and its repercussions on the region and the world, on the one hand, and the formation of a new Israeli cabinet, on the other hand, which insists on enforcing the “deal of the century” and annexing parts of the occupied West Bank amid a Palestinian national consensus to reject the US President Donald Trump’s plan.

During the call, both parties talked about a meeting of foreign ministers to be held to discuss the Arab position on Trump’s deal.

The Hamas chief said that he was confident that the Arab league and Arab states would continue to support the Palestinian people and their constant national rights and reinforce their steadfastness in the face of Israeli schemes.
