Hamas is following up the latest efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation and restore national unity, member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran has said.
In a press release Saturday, Badran added that his movement is “positively” considering an appeal made by 1,000 Palestinian figures in Europe urging the Palestinian factions to unite and end the intra-Palestinian division amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Hamas accepts every step aimed to promote Palestinian interests and strengthen the Palestinian home front in the face of the Israeli occupation, Badran continued.
Hoping that such efforts would be met with a positive response from all partners in Palestine, Badran welcomed every endeavour made by Palestinian communities and institutions to restore national unity.
Badran highlighted that several challenges were lying ahead in the Palestinian struggle for freedom, the foremost among them are the recent Israeli plans to annex large chunks from the occupied West Bank with the support and blessing of the US administration.
Fighting the new annexation plans, aimed at nearly 30 per cent of the occupied West Bank, including the Jordan Valley, is a top priority for Hamas and all Palestinians, who will not accept the agreements of a “bloody” partnership between two Israeli rivals to be made at the expense of their rights, Badran explained.
Badran saluted the Palestinian communities in Europe for their “significant” role in serving the Palestinian cause.
