Hamas condemns US threats to ICC as ‘bullying’

20 May, 20

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem has denounced statements by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in which he threatened to “exact consequences” if the International Criminal Court (ICC) launches an investigation into Israeli war crimes as “bullying practiced by the US administration against an international judicial agency.”

In a press release, Qasem said that such threats reflected the non-stopping US support for Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people and would encourage the Israeli occupation to commit further crimes.

Through its positions against Palestinian rights and its support for the illegal annexation of the occupied West Bank, Qasem added, the US administration has become a partner with the Israeli occupation in its aggression against the Palestinian people.

Qasem called for bringing Israeli occupation leaders to trial at international courts for their involvement in unabated crimes against the Palestinian people.
