The 10-point initiative on the Palestinian reconciliation launched by late Islamic Jihad secretary general Ramadan Shalah, which was welcomed by all Palestinian factions except for Fatah, is still in place and is critically needed now, Mousa Abu Marzouq, member of Hamas Political Bureau, has said.
In a press statement Thursday, Abu Marzouq called on the Palestinian Authority not to adhere to the Israeli pressure and let the Palestinian people resist the occupation.
Abu Marzouq reiterated the necessity of setting a national plan to resist the occupation in the West Bank.
The senior Hamas official pointed out he had no doubts that Fatah officials and PA President Mahmoud Abbas want to restore Palestinian unity, adding that they can do that but need an “unusual courage” to do so.
Regretting that the PA is not being serious about facing off Israeli annexation plans, Abu Morzouq revealed that he was told by European officials that security coordination between the PA and Israeli occupation is still ongoing and nothing has change on the ground.
Abu Marzouq deplored some Arab regimes normalising ties with the Israeli occupation, pointing out to the intense pressure from the United States on the states rejecting normalisation with the Israeli occupation.
