Attempts by the United Arab Emirates ambassador to Washington to look for common grounds with the Israeli occupation aim to cajole the Israeli occupation into normalising ties with his country, as they reflect a lack of understanding of the expansionist and hostile nature of the Israeli occupation, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem has said.

In a press release on Friday evening, Qasem denounced the Emirati envoy for bragging, in an opinion article published in an Israeli newspaper, about his country’s condemnation of Palestinian and Arab resistance movements.

Labelling the Palestinian responses to Israeli annexation plans as “violence” and saying that this move would “trigger the extremists” are intended to smear the Palestinian national struggle against the Israeli occupation and criminalise the Palestinians’ noble sacrifices for their rights, Qasem pointed out.

The UAE ambassador reiterated that he was among those who participated in the unveiling of the “deal of the century”, which is a statement reflecting his disregard for the feelings of the Palestinian people, Arab and Muslim nations and the free people of the world who rejected the ill-fated US plan, Qasem explained.

Condemning normalisation as a “stab in the back of the Palestinian people and their sacrifices,” Qasem called on all sides seeking to normalise ties with the Israeli occupation to abandon this approach which only serves the Israeli occupation and encourage it to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people and Arab and Muslim holy sites.
