Hamas condemns Israeli measures at Ibrahimi Mosque as ‘assault on holy sites’

08 August, 20

The Israeli occupation’s recent decision to change features of al-Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron is a new assault on Muslim holy sites and a flagrant violation of the International Law, Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa has said.

In a press statement on Saturday, al-Qanoa explained that the new Israeli measures at the Ibrahimi Mosque, including installing an elevator for Israeli settlers only and transferring municipal power over the Mosque from Hebron municipality to the so-called “Settlement Planning Council”, confirmed that the Israeli occupation is adamant to enforce its racist plans against Muslim sacred sites.

The Hamas spokesperson called on all Palestinians to face off this step and “not to underestimate these measures.”

Israeli attempts to create a fake fait accompli at al-Ibrahimi Mosque and falsify Hebron’s history will not succeed in altering the Mosque’s Islamic identity or its constant realities, al-Qanoa stressed.
