Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh phoned on Thursday evening head of the Central Election Commission Hanna Nasser, expressing his support, respect and appreciation for the committee.

Haniyeh reiterated his movement’s keenness on creating a national atmosphere to ensure the success of Palestinian elections as per the Cairo agreement.

Hamas will spare no effort to fulfil its commitments in regard to freedoms, security and integrity in coordination with the Central Election Commission, Haniyeh continued.

The Hamas chief hoped that the Commission would work on securing freedoms, ensuring the integrity of Palestinian elections and not allowing the Israeli occupation to interfere in the election process in the occupied West Bank, as well as ensuring the election results be respected by all parties.

Nasser, in return, reiterated the Commission would assume its role and duty, voicing his thanks for Haniyeh for making such phone call.

Praising a phone call between Haniyeh and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas two days ago, Nasser expressed confidence that all Palestinian segments and factions would help the Commission in their efforts to hold the election process.
