Member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran stressed that Palestinian elections is a “gateway to rearranging the Palestinian House.”
In a press statement, Badran added that his movement would discuss the Palestinian National Council and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) in the coming talks in Cairo.
As for the election court, Badran asserted that it has been agreed on a list of judges from the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem to form it.
Badran confirmed that the result of Hamas’ internal election will not affect its position on the Palestinian general elections.
Hamas’ decision to take part in the forthcoming elections was taken by its Shura Council, Badran continued.
Condemning Israeli arrest campaigns against Hamas officials and members in the occupied West Bank, Badran said that the Israeli occupation is keen on disrupting the Palestinian democratic process and undermining any effort to unify the Palestinian people.
Regarding Hamas’ internal elections, Badran affirmed that Hamas is capable of maintaining a balance between its internal vote and the general elections.
Badran noted the head of Hamas Political Bureau, his deputy, and a large number of politburo members will be announced after the end of the internal elections.
