Member of Hamas Political Bureau Khalil Al-Hayya said that the meeting with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad was positive and historic, stressing that this was a new start for joint Palestinian-Syrian work in a welcoming Syrian environment.

President Bashar Al-Assad was very determined to support our Palestinian people and resistance, Al-Hayya added.

The Hamas official expressed delight at meeting Al-Assad, a move that comes as Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem are standing firm against the Israeli occupation's repeated aggression against occupied Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Hayya wished Syria a complete recovery to go on with its vital role in supporting the Arab nation's causes, stressing that Hamas supports a united Syrian people.

He also indicated that the Israeli occupation strengthens its presence in the region through normalisation and tries to gain Arab allies against Arabs, and the correct response to this is to strengthen the resistance front.
